We jumped on the @marksandspencerfood Charcuter-tree bandwagon this evening

It comes with a big platter of high quality salchicon and chorizo, both Manzanilla and Kalamata olives, and a load of cubed Gouda. We topped it up with some @wensleydale_creamery with Cranberries, some grapes and pickled onions and served with fresh fruit, chutneys, crackers, breadsticks and the @lidlgb Deluxe Vintage Baked Cheddar which was divine.

A lovely festive evening of just us four before the madness ensues over the coming days.

Final morning of work for 2025 tomorrow and soo ready for the festive break.

AD: This Tuesday; I was invited along to try @meleeperesoho via @foodienet_uk and took my Dad along for a Christmas jolly.

Mele e Pere is the home of spritz, they have handmade pasta on offer across the menu and even have an entire Vermouth bar to boot. From the outside it looks just like any Soho bar; quite small and unassuming nestled on Brewer Street; but downstairs in the restaurant it was teeming with life and festive joy - lots of groups of friends, families, dates and more.

We enjoyed a couple of starters to share; Polpettine - the Pork & fennel meatballs which were served simply in a San Marzano tomato sauce and with plenty of Peccorino. They were so flavoursome and quite light for meatballs; they were a hit. We also had our joint favourite - Burrata which was served with roasted tomato a black olive paste - tapenade style and in a herby basil oil - divine and sumptuously creamy!

Dad went for the Pappardelle Verdi Al Tartufo - a green, spinach wise ribbon pasta with duck ragu and grated black truffle (which he said was quite subtle and not overpowering at all as truffle sometimes can be). He devoured it!

I predictably couldn't resist the Prawn Linguini - featuring king prawns, garlic, chilli and a fragrant lemony oil - again; zero complaints; it was absolutely delicious and an perfectly sized pasta dish.

We finished with Slow Roasted Pineapple with Lemon Balm Sorbet; which was fab and I could not resist the Nonna Mantovani Tiramisu - which was generously sized; served in a homely mug (bringing the home style theme) and was utterly glorious!

I had an On the Riff Vermouth cocktail which was served with tart raspberries and was delicious and we had a couple of Birra Moretti's too - failsafe.

We would 100% return to Mele e Pere and must call out the fantastic service from our waitress Skye; and the maitre d' both of whom really welcomed us. We'll bring the family back in the new year for sure.

Here's your sign to add a Christmas Wreath Salad to your festive sharing table.

You can add all of your favourite salad items for a slightly lighter side dish ro all the rich food associated with Christmas.

Two versions here; the first with a less-light baked Rosemary & Garlic Camembert in the centre and served with crusty bread. This one was rocket, red onions, cherry tomatoes, baby cucumber, olives, avocado and pomegranate jewels and coated in a pomegranate dressing.

The second; a simple Mozarella Salad - almost all of the same as above; minus the cucumber and adding in a few tart cranberries and a drizzle of olive oil and balsamic vinegar.

Do you usually include a feative salad?

AD: Yesterday we enjoyed a fabulous Caribbean meal at @turtlebayuk Romford.

We went for the Sunday Sharer - an amazing feast that is perfect to share and we absolutely loved it.

It includes olives and plantain chips to start; then a platter loaded with jerk chicken, grilled prawns, coleslaw, a spiced cucumber salad, roti style flatbreads and some pickled red onions. As if that isnt enough of a spread; loads of side dishes are included too - rice and peas, Mo'bay Pasta - an an indulgent lightly spiced mac and cheese; a grain salad and spiced fries, a chickpea curry and my favourite - Curry Goat which is banging!

We ordered the sharer for 3 people and then also ordered the Cornish Sole which was on the specials menu and was cooked whole and served on a bed of salsa verde - it was divine!

The Sunday Sharer also includes bottomless ice cream so the kids were very happy!

They both had a milkshake too; the Solero and the Gingerbread and loved them and I had a couple of Cherry Sling cocktails (2-4-1) which always go down well!

We always get great service @turtlebayuk and yesterday was no exception - its a fab place to enjoy a family meal and we'll definitely be going back for that Sunday Sharer again soon.
